DELTA®-WOODIXX: Moisture Protection for CLT and Engineered Timber

Rain should not slow down your timber build. DELTA®-WOODIXX is a full-faced, self-adhesive membrane that protects CLT and timber frame elements from moisture during construction. It is vapour permeable, transparent and quick to fit, so trapped moisture can dry out and your crew can keep working.

Advantages

  • High transparency

All markings, millings and drill holes stay visible. You can even see trapped moisture drying out, so follow-on work carries on without delay.

  • Excellent moisture proofing

High vapour permeability and a low Sd value let unplanned moisture dry off safely. That gives reliable protection against moisture damage.

  • High slip resistance

The surface is extremely non-slip, so installation is as safe as possible, even in wet conditions and on steep slopes.

  • Familiar scribing

Scribe with a pencil or chalk line just as you would on the timber itself.

  • Easy alignment

A separate liner makes positioning easy. A dimensionally stable reinforcement scrim helps you lay it fast, straight and wrinkle-free.

  • Full-surface bonding

The membrane sticks to the whole surface, so water cannot run under the sheet at angled supports, fixings or other perforations. That saves the labour of treating water stains later, such as sanding a complete ceiling.

  • Repositionable

The adhesive lets you lift the membrane straight after application and realign it, so you can correct the laying direction.

Where to Use

DELTA®-WOODIXX gives temporary weather protection to prefabricated wall and ceiling elements in CLT and timber frame construction. It is ideal for multi-storey, large-scale buildings, especially ceiling elements where the underside will be visible timber.

Fit it in the factory during prefabrication, before the elements travel, or directly on site. Either way, the timber stays protected through delivery, lifting and assembly.

Laying

Overlap method. Bond the membrane with a 25 cm overlap so it covers the neighbouring element during assembly. The narrow 25 cm split liner stays on the membrane until the next stage of work.

Flush method. Fit the membrane flush with the element edge. Once the elements are assembled, bond the joints with a tailored strip of DELTA®-WOODIXX.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is DELTA®-WOODIXX used for?

It gives temporary weather protection to prefabricated CLT and timber frame wall and ceiling elements during construction.

Can I fit it in the factory?

Yes. Fit it during prefabrication before transport, or directly on site.

Can I still see markings and drill holes?

Yes. The membrane is highly transparent, so markings, millings and drill holes stay visible.

Can I mark lines on it?

Yes. Use a pencil or chalk line, just as on the timber.

What if I lay it the wrong way?

The adhesive is repositionable. Lift the membrane straight after application and realign it.

Will it stop water stains on visible ceilings?

Full-surface bonding stops water running under the sheet at supports, fixings and other perforations, which avoids reworking such as sanding a complete ceiling.

How long can it stay exposed to the weather?

It gives temporary protection to ceiling elements for up to 6 weeks of outdoor weathering.

Can I fit it in cold weather?

Yes. The processing temperature is from +5 °C, for both the air and the timber element.

What size is the roll?

30 m x 1.50 m, which covers 45 m². It has a split liner on the back (125/25 cm).

Can I use it with glulam?

Many Irish timber projects combine CLT with glulam beams and columns. Contact us and we will advise on protecting every element of your build.

Do you deliver in Ireland?

Yes. Contact Commons House Design for availability, quantities and delivery.
