STEICOprotect L dry

Wood fibre insulation board for external wall insulation

Previously listed on our website as STEICOprotect 037. Solid masonry needs solid insulation. - STEICOprotect L dry combines energy efficiency, well-being and climate protection.

Like wood, brick is one of the natural building materials and brings positive properties into the house: durability, "breathability" and a healthy living environment. Old masonry - and also some modern bricks - is only energetically not up to date. STEICOprotect L dry is an innovative natural insulation system.

Key advantages

  • Ideal in combination with masonry, for example when renovating facades
  • Particularly open to diffusion – perfect complement to the natural building material brick
  • Excellent insulation properties thanks to particularly low thermal conductivity λ D 0.037
  • Robust and durable insulation boards made from natural wood fiber
  • Almost unlimited design options thanks to several cleaning systems to choose from
  • Handy insulation boards available in thicknesses from 100 to 240 mm

More about STEICOprotect L dry

STEICOprotect L dry insulation boards are made of natural softwood and therefore have all the advantages of the natural building material wood. STEICOprotect L dry is therefore the ideal insulation for everyone who wants to combine high-tech with healthy living and climate protection. Of course, the wood for STEICO insulation comes from responsibly managed forests that are certified in accordance with the strict rules of the FSC® (Forest Stewardship Council®) or the PEFC®.

Better protection against the cold in winter

Low thermal conductivity means higher insulation efficiency. With a thermal conductivity of only λ D 0.037 [W / (m * K)], STEICOprotect L dry has the best value for facade insulation with natural insulation materials. This enables particularly efficient insulation solutions to be implemented. With STEICOprotect L dry you achieve optimal structural heat protection and create cozy warmth in winter.

Who wants to live in a plastic bag?

STEICOprotect L dry insulation boards are open to diffusion, ie they are vapor permeable and moisture regulating . This is how STEICO facade insulation protects the house like a good functional jacket: moisture stays outside and moisture can escape to the outside. In contrast to some rigid foam insulation, which traps moisture and can possibly increase the risk of mold.

Insulating with STEICO means saving heating costs and protecting the climate. A typical facade renovation with STEICOprotect L dry stores as much CO2 in the wood fiber insulation panels as a small car releases over 100,000 km. This CO2 is removed from the atmosphere in the long term.

A healthy living climate begins with sensible facade insulation. With their diffusion-open structure, STEICOprotect L dry insulation boards are perfectly matched to the physical properties of brick and masonry. The wall can still "breathe", at the same time the loss of valuable heating energy is minimized. A positive side effect: Well-insulated walls have a warmer surface. You can feel it. The rooms are no longer clammy in winter, and the well-being of the residents increases.

Protect substance, preserve values

With the robust STEICOprotect L dry insulation boards, you can make the masonry of your facade fit for the future. In addition to the considerable heating cost savings, the system is characterized by a particularly long service life. This is how STEICO facade insulation contributes to maintaining the value of your property.

We are against green facades - the power of nature

Thermal insulation composite systems with STEICOprotect L dry insulation boards offer natural protection against algae and moss on the facade. The secret is their relatively high bulk density (volume weight). During the day, the wood fiber insulation boards absorb the warmth of the day. Due to its higher mass, the facade cools very slowly in the evening, the surface remains warmer than with many conventional insulation materials. On the other hand, only a little humidity condenses on warm surfaces - the facade remains significantly drier. And without moisture, algae and moss are deprived of their livelihood. This is also confirmed by the Fraunhofer Institute for Building Physics, which uses insulating materials made from renewable raw materials - such as STEICOprotect L dry - examined. The result is that the use of insulating materials made from renewable raw materials significantly reduces the risk of biological fouling of the facade with algae and fungi.

Security and protection

STEICOprotect L dry insulation boards are hydrophobic, ie water-repellent. Rain just rolls off. During the construction phase, the insulation boards can be exposed to the weather for up to four weeks - enough time for the plaster application

Protection against moisture

The combination of rain protection and openness to diffusion ensures maximum protection against moisture.

Excellent heat protection

Thanks to their particularly high heat capacity, STEICOprotect L dry insulation boards delay and minimize heat transfer in summer. The result: cooler rooms even in the summer heat

Excellent insulation properties in winter

The so-called lambda value (λ) is important for protection against the cold. The lower the value, the better the insulation performance. With a nominal value of λD 0.037, STEICOprotect L dry has the lowest thermal conductivity that can currently be achieved with facade insulation made from renewable raw materials.

A lower lambda value allows thinner insulation layers and enables greater energy savings.

Proven fire protection

In the event of a fire, STEICOprotect L dry insulation boards produce little smoke. The insulation boards do not melt and do not drip burning from the facade.

Very good sound insulation

Where insulation systems made of rigid foam can even degrade sound insulation, STEICOprotect L dry insulation boards make a valuable contribution to a quiet living atmosphere - thanks to their special fiber structure.
